Our Wild and Woody Wood is a very special place where your dogs can sniff, run and explore to their heart’s content. Our ½ acre woodland has a variety of terrain from open areas under the oak trees, a muddy ditch and bog and scrubby foliage areas along an old railway banking where dogs love to rummage and explore. We have created a few winding paths through our woodland which are mainly laid in woodchip. A small bridge creates a circular route round the wood. Dogs can get a drink from the ditch which runs through the area or from the bucket and water container just inside the entrance gate.
All the boundary fences of Our Wild and Woody Wood are deer fenced and rabbit netted. The adjoining fence is double deer fenced with additional rabbit netting added to double height thus preventing little snouts popping through.

The adjoining doubled deer fence has a hedge planted within the 1 metre space. In time this hedge will provide a lovely screen between our hired areas as well as a lovely habitat for the wildlife to live in. We’ve also planted additional trees within the woodland both evergreen and deciduous trees, which will add areas of interest, berries and fruits as well as a scenting opportunity! Two or three times a year we top up most of the paths with wood chips. The wood chips are a great insect friendly habitat, we regularly see lots of birds searching for their next juicy meal!

During the Christmas holidays 2020/21 we upcycled a large garden shed into a field shelter complete with picnic bench, waterproof cushions, sanitiser station and an information mural. Our field shelter provides a peaceful place to bring a picnic, have a seat and take in the fantastic views over the Strathearn countryside towards the hills behind Crieff and Madderty.
Within our wood we have a muddy ditch and a bog. It’s a fabulous habitat for wildlife and plants. Wendy will describe this area during your introduction. The dogs really love our bog but it really is a dog only area as humans will definitely loose a wellie or a boot!
Our favourite quote so far is:
“Your wood is magic…………my dog changed colour!!”
Luckily our burn in the car park has a pool for washing the dogs or you can use the water butt and bucket in our reception area.

As you enter our woodland, on the right as you come through the gate you will a First Aid Station containing; Fire Action Plan, What3words sign, A red box containing a First Aid Kit suitable for both human’s and dog’s and spare poo bags. On the outside of the red box you will find our contact details should you have any questions, queries or concerns.
Two shovels are located within Our Wild and Woody Wood, 1 at the First Aid Station red box and 1 on the field shelter. Should your dog dig any holes or have an upset tummy they are available to help tidy things up!
